The history of Christmas gifts gives us an idea of how the nature of gifts has changed through the ages.
One of the main reasons we have the custom of giving and receiving presents at Christmas, is to remind us of the presents given to Jesus by the Wise Men: Frankincense, Gold and Myrrh. Christmas itself is really about a big present that God gave the world about 2000 years ago – Jesus!
All over the world, families and friends give presents to each other. Most children around the world believe in a Christmas gift bringer. It’s often Santa Claus.
At Christmas time families get together to have a great time, they eat nice food, exchange presents with each other’s, watch films, listen to music etc. The gifts can be very simple things, the love and bonding which it fosters is the important idea.
Sometimes the gifts are laid under the Christmas tree. Apart from the pleasure of getting gifts, wrapped packages are a feast for the eyes. History of Christmas gifts makes us aware of the fact that there are particular times for giving gifts. Gifts are given on the Christmas day or Christmas.
