An atomic bomb is an object from which you get a lot of explosive energy through a nuclear reaction. It works causing a nuclear chain reaction. It is among the weapons of mass destruction, and it produces a very large cloud.
The atomic bomb was made by the US during World War II, thanks to the Manhattan Project, and it is the only country that has used it in combat.
Its operation is based on the fission of its heavy atomic nuclei into lighter elements by bombarding neutrons, colliding with the material, causing a nuclear chain reaction. For this to happen, it is necessary to use fissile nuclei.
There are many kinds of bombs:
- Uranium Bomb
- Plutonium Bomb
- Hydrogen or Thermonuclear Bomb
- Neutron Bomb
